Data-Driven Respiration-Gated SPECT for Liver Radioembolization

چکیده

Respiratory motion leads to blur and artifacts in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images. This may be an issue some treatments such as liver radioembolization. The purpose of this work was reconstruct 4-D respiration-gated SPECT images using a data-driven approach. A respiratory signal extracted from list-mode data Laplacian eigenmaps used for retrospective phase gating. method evaluated on various datasets: Monte Carlo simulation patient acquisition, several acquisitions dynamic phantom, 20 patients treated with We observed increase the mean activity inside tumor (A) tumor-to-normal ratio (T/N) image compared 3-D without correction. For acquisitions, average 3.3% (up 11.9%) 3.2% 9.7%) T/N, respectively. simulation, within 2.6% reference movement around 3% three patterns simulated mechanical phantom. Overall, proposed reconstruction improves estimation need extra hardware.

Radioembolization Treatment for Liver Cancer

Although curative treatment is surgery (resection/transplantation) and for small lesions ablative strategies, in primary liver carcinomas such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocellular carcinoma, palliative treatment is used for most of these patients because of lack of surgical options. These treatments are regional treatments such as transarterial chemoembolization, radiofrequency abl...

Radioembolization treatment for liver metastases

The liver is an organ that, due to vascularisation and functions, is prone to metastases. Most liver metastases are observed in cases of gastrointestinal cancers in: stomach, colon, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Metastatic lesions are also observed in lung, breast, thyroid, kidney, and pancreatic cancer. One of the best known and most effective ways of liver lesion treatment is Metastasectomy. U...

Advances in SPECT for Optimizing the Liver Tumors Radioembolization Using Yttrium-90 Microspheres

Radioembolization (RE) with Yttrium-90 ((90)Y) microspheres is an effective treatment for unresectable liver tumors. The activity of the microspheres to be administered should be calculated based on the type of microspheres. Technetium-99m macroaggregated albumin ((99m)Tc-MAA) single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) is a reliable assessment before RE to ensure ...

Determining parameters for respiration-gated radiotherapy.

Respiration-gated radiotherapy for tumor sites affected by respiratory motion will potentially improve radiotherapy outcomes by allowing reduced treatment margins leading to decreased complication rates and/or increased tumor control. Furthermore, for intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), respiratory gating will minimize the hot and cold spot artifacts in dose distributions that may occur as...
